The largest hospital in the modern world, the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, is the center for health in Paris. Also doubling as a kind of prison--mostly housing harlots in recent years-- the hospital capacity reaches upwards of 10,000 patients. A kind of transformation is currently taking place within the walls as well for the treatment of the criminally insane.
